This website enables parents and the community who are against the relocation of GPS to HKHS to receive current information and be informed on how you can become involved.

Petition

On Wednesday 23th November 2011, members of the Gosford Public Action Group presented the petition with over 10,000 signatures to Jamie Parker MP and Dr John Kaye MLC at the NSW Parliament House. Dr Kaye said "The tabling of more than 10,000 signatures means that both houses of parliament will be debating the loss of a separate primary school in the first weeks of 2012".

Reasons why relocation of GPS to HKHS is opposed

This link provides a comprehensive list of reasons why relocation of GPS to HKHS is opposed, yet cannot detail the extensive impact this has on both school communities. The HKHS site is only 4.65 hectares. The NSW Government Schools AMU Directorate states 3(a) "New Primary Schools should be 3ha in size and High Schools should be 6ha." Therefore the site is only half the required size. The two schools will be crammed onto a site that does not even meet the suitable size of a high school. The merger of GPS into HKHS will constrain future growth for both schools with predictions of a growth population over the coming years to be around 10,000 in the Gosford area. The Education Department will be required to build a new school to cope with increased enrollments. This can be avoided as there are other suitable alternative sites for the relocation of GPS in the area.

HKHS is still undergoing refurbishments and capital works. At this stage the plans to relocate GPS to HKHS are yet to be finalised or have DA approval by Gosford Council. There is still time to stop the merger and relocate GPS to a suitable independent site.
